As a response, the Office of the Ombudsman expressed its agreement with the request of the defense panel for hospital arrest, provided the Sandiganbayan will order the former president’s transfer to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital, under its full control.

Former President Arroyo shall be under control and supervision of the government, including her use of communication gadgets which shall be under the authority of the Police Security and Protection Group.

In cases of media interviews, such shall only be permitted if and when authorized by the anti-graft court.

The issued resolution also states that former President Arroyo will have to shoulder her own hospital expenses, from confinement to medications.

Regarding her visitors, Sandiganbayan also ruled that the Philippine National Police shall have full control, and permission is needed from them prior to visiting the former President.

Former President Arroyo shall remain confined in the Veterans Memorial Medical Center until further orders of the court.

The ruling on the results of the medical examinations undergone by Mrs. Arroyo at the Philippine Heart Center was also held off by the court.

The Sandiganbayan released its order for Mrs. Arroyo’s arrest on October 4 on grounds of plunder, for the alleged misuse of intelligence funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) amounting to Php366 Million.

Aside from former president Arroyo, the Commission on Audit as well as nine former officials from PCSO were also ordered arrest on the same grounds.

Former President Arroyo was also arrested for allegedly being involved in electoral sabotage for altering the election results in Mindanao for the previous 2007 senatorial elections.

Despite current condition, Mrs. Arroyo still expressed her intention to run for re-election for Congress for the same position of representative of the 2nd District of Pampanga.
