Cebu’s Original Lechon Belly

Lechon Cebu: Why I Like Cebu’s Original Lechon Belly

Good food deserves a blog post— no matter how busy I may be. This is long overdue!

I am a lechon lover. I absolutely love lechon— and I may even go as far as calling myself a lechon Cebu expert.

Best Lechon Cebu

So what’s the best? On top of my list is still Rico’s lechon Cebu. I discovered Rico’s lechon through a local magazine feature back in 2004. Apparently, former president Joseph Estrada used to order hundreds of lechon from Rico’s whenever he had a function at Malacanan by having them flown in stratight from Cebu! (Talk about flying pigs!)

But this post is not about Rico’s. It’s about my latest discovery, my new favorite— Cebu’s Orginal Lechon Belly!

Located at Parkmall, Mandaue City, Cebu’s Original Lechon Belly has a no frills alfresco set up for its diners. (See photos below.)

I believe the owners know their business very well and I admire the simplicity of their process:

  1. You line up, order your lechon (choice of original or spicy), puso (hanging rice), drinks.
  2. You pay.
  3. You claim your plates, plastic gloves, and order on the other side.
  4. Use your hand with plastic gloves to eat to keep your hands clean and oil-free!
  5. Smile after your hearty meal!

Spicy Lechon Cebu is the best! :D

Spicy Lechon Cebu

The lechon is absolutely delicious! Iba nga naman talaga ang bagong luto. Yes, in the couple of times I’ve dined at Parkmall, the lechon was always still hot (and CRISPY!), which makes it really extra good!  The spicy version is my favorite as it’s just right for what I can handle. I always enjoy eating my spicy lechon Ceby with their garlic vinegar.

Price: For a meal of 3, we spent around Php 670 but we were really full! That meal included 1/2 kilo regular lechon, 1/2 kilo spicy lechon (Php240/half kilo), around 12 puso (hanging rice – Php5/piece), 2 Coca Colas, and 3 bottled waters. Not bad right? Enjoy! :)
