CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan, June 10 (PIA) –- The provincial government of Bulacan, together with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), polished its preparations for the 113th anniversary of Philippine Independence on June 12 to be held at the historic Barasoain Church.

Themed “Kalayaan: Paninindigan ng Bayan,” the annual commemoration, held at different historical parts of the country would bring House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. to the city of Malolos, the birth site of the first Philippine Republic.

The Philippine National Police-Bulacan has been conducting drills and vowed to intensify its police force on celebration day to guarantee security during the event. The stage would also be elevated to provide a better view to the audience.

Governor Wilhelmino Alvarado ordered the proper designation of areas to the visitors and the organization of the program flow to assure an orderly commemoration.

“Ang kasarinlan ng Pilipinas ay natamo dahil sa sakripisyo, pagmamahal sa bayan, at pagkakaisa ng ating mga ninuno at ito’y ating susuklian sa pagpapakita na ang magiting na lahing Bulakenyo ay patuloy na nagkakaisa para mapangalagaan ang ating kalayaan (The Philippine liberty was brought by sacrifices, love for country and solidarity of our ancestors and we return their service through showing that the noble Bulacan descent is continuously uniting to preserve our democracy),” Alvarado said.

President Benigno Aquino III would be gracing the celebration at the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite, the site where Philippine president Aguinaldo first unfurled the flag and declared independence from the colonial rule of Spain.

Senator Francis Pangilinan will be attending the commemoration at the Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine in San Juan City; Sen. Teofisto Guingona III at Gat. Andres Bonifacio National Monument in Caloocan City; and Metro Manila Development Authority chair Atty. Francis Tolentino at the Rizal National Monument at the City of Manila.

Meanwhile, Alvarado said that this year’s celebration of Philippine independence day at Barasoain Church will be attended by all the five congressmen of the province, Malolos City officials led by Mayor Christian D. Natividad, the League of Municipalities-Bulacan Chapter headed by Paombong Mayor Donato Marcos, Central Luzon police director Chief Supt.
